How to Use Seedream in Claude

Claude can’t generate images on its own. Here’s how to add ByteDance’s Seedream 5 Lite to Claude in about a minute and create 2K and 3K images right in the chat.

How to Use Seedream in Claude

Claude is great at writing the brief, but it can’t draw. It has no image generator of its own, and ByteDance’s Seedream models aren’t built in. The fix takes about a minute: add AiWings as a connector, and Claude can make Seedream 5 Lite images at 2K and 3K in the same chat where you planned them.

What you need

  • A Claude account on a plan that lets you add custom connectors.
  • An AiWings account (sign in with Google). Usage comes from your AiWings credits.
  • About a minute.

Step 1: Add AiWings to Claude

You only do this once. After that, Seedream is available in every Claude chat with the connector turned on.

  1. 1In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector.
  2. 2Name it AiWings and paste the URL below.
  3. 3Click Connect, then sign in to AiWings and allow access.
  4. 4In a new chat, make sure AiWings is turned on in the tools menu.

Step 2: Ask Claude for a Seedream image

Name the model in your request. Claude writes a detailed prompt, calls the AiWings image tool and shows the result in the chat. It’s a good idea to let Claude plan first: ask it to sharpen your idea, then generate with Seedream.

Use Seedream at 3K to make a 21:9 ultra-wide photograph of a vast white salt flat at dawn, with a thin mirror of sky in the shallow water and a single distant line of mountains.

Seedream shines at wide and editorial work. Here are real, unedited results:

A mirror-like salt flat at blue hour reflecting the Milky Way, with distant rock monoliths on the horizon

A fictional design magazine called ATLAS lying flat on pale concrete, with a white spiral staircase on the cover and three cover lines
Editorial layouts with textSeedream 5 Lite · 2K

Step 3: Keep your product, change the scene

Ask Claude to open the AiWings upload box, add your product photo, and describe the new scene. Seedream keeps the product and rebuilds everything around it.

Open the AiWings upload box. Then use Seedream to place my coffee bag on a sunlit oak kitchen counter with a glass pour-over server. Keep every word on the label readable.

Seedream 5 Lite at a glance

Seedream is ByteDance’s image model. AiWings offers Seedream 5 Lite, which works the same way everywhere you add it:

ModelSizesReference imagesCost per imageBest for
Seedream 5 Lite2K, 3KUp to 145 credits ($0.05)Interiors, editorial layouts, wide scenes

Prices are at the top-up rate of $0.01 per credit, and plans include more credits per dollar. You get 3K for the same price as 2K (5 credits ($0.05)). To stop naming the model every time, say “make Seedream 5 Lite at 3K my default”.

Tips for Claude and Seedream

  • Let Claude write the prompt: describe the goal and ask for three directions before generating.
  • Use 3K for finished work: it costs the same as 2K.
  • Ask for 21:9 when you want a cinematic banner.
  • Put exact words in quotes and say where they go, such as a magazine cover headline.
  • Use a Claude Project for a brand: put your style notes in the project and every Seedream image in it follows them.

If something doesn’t work

  • Claude says it can’t make images: check that AiWings is turned on in the chat’s tools menu, then ask again.
  • The connector shows no tools: remove it in Settings → Connectors and add it again with the same URL.
  • Sign-in loops: allow pop-ups for claude.ai and finish the AiWings sign-in in the same browser.
  • Out of credits: top up from your AiWings dashboard, then ask Claude to try again.

Bottom line

Claude can’t make images on its own, but with AiWings connected, Seedream is one sentence away. The same connector also gives Claude GPT Image, Nano Banana, Imagen and Seedance video, all from one balance.

FAQ

Can Claude use Seedream natively?

No. Claude doesn’t include ByteDance’s Seedream models. You add them with AiWings, then ask for Seedream by name.

What sizes does Seedream 5 Lite make?

2K and 3K, in 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 3:2, 2:3, 21:9. Both sizes cost 5 credits ($0.05), so there’s no reason to pick the smaller one.

Can Seedream edit my own images?

Yes. It takes up to 14 reference images, so you can keep a product exactly as it is and change the scene around it.

Which Claude plans can add the connector?

Any Claude plan that lets you add a custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to add AiWings for the organization first.
